ISLAMABAD, Sep 11 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Monday appreciated the services of court reporters in providing awareness of legal matters and important court decisions to the masses.
During a meeting with a delegation of the Press Association of the Supreme Court of Pakistan which met with him here, the minister said the main objective of the media was to convey correct information to the general public.
He stressed that responsible journalism was need of the hour which could help the society move forward in the right direction.
The role of court reporters in journalism, he said, was very important. Court reporting was a technical field and like lawyers, journalists covering court proceedings should be well versed in law, he added.
Covering the Supreme Court’s proceedings was equally important and sensitive, and the court reporters were doing the job very efficiently, the minister remarked.
Solangi said the caretaker government fully believed in freedom of press and it would solve the problems of journalists working in the field.
The minister congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Press Association of the Supreme Court, including President Tayyab Baloch, General Secretary Azam Gul, Information Secretary Shahryar Shoaib Bukhari and others.
